Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) is a versatile industrial material widely used as a filler and reinforcing agent in rubber, paper, ink, coatings, plastics, food, and cosmetics.

The earliest high purity quartz (HPQ) was produced using first- and second-grade natural crystal as raw materials. However, with the rapid development of high-tech industries, the limited and gradually depleting natural crystal resources can no longer meet the growing market demand for HPQ. Since the 1970s, alternative quartz sources have been used globally: the United States mainly uses granite pegmatite, Japan uses fine-grained pegmatite, while Russia and Germany process HPQ from metamorphic quartzite and vein quartz. Today, natural quartz minerals have become the primary raw material for HPQ production.

Bentonite, a hydrous clay mineral primarily composed of montmorillonite, is renowned as "magic clay" due to its exceptional properties, including swelling capacity, binding ability, adsorption power, catalytic features, thixotropy, suspension stability, and cation exchange capability. In the ceramic manufacturing industry, bentonite plays a vital role as an additive, especially in the production of sanitaryware and daily-use ceramics, where its contribution is irreplaceable.
