On January 6th, the establishment meeting of the domestic working group for the international standard ISO 9225 "Corrosion of metals and alloys - Measurement of atmospheric corrosive environmental parameters affected by atmospheric corrosiveness" was successfully held in Beijing, organized by the Metallurgical Industry Information Standards Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the Information Standards Institute). At the meeting, Dean Zhang Longqiang read out the establishment documents of the working group and the list of experts. He stated that the Information Standards Institute has always attached great importance to international standardization work, and with the joint efforts of relevant parties, the industry's international standardization work has achieved fruitful results. He emphasized the importance of international standardization in the field of metal corrosion and the significance of China taking the lead in the revision of ISO 9225. As the leader of the domestic counterpart working group, he also put forward further requirements for the next revision work of ISO 9225, hoping that with the joint efforts of the working group members and various units, the revision work can be completed with high quality.

Zhang Minglong, Vice President of the Electric Power Science Research Institute of State Grid Fujian Electric Power Co., Ltd., spoke on behalf of the leading unit of the international standard project. He mentioned that in recent years, the company has attached great importance to corrosion protection work and actively participated in standardization work. We will take the lead in undertaking the revision of ISO 9225, fully ensuring the investment of manpower, financial resources, and material resources, leveraging our own technological advantages and practical experience, rigorously and scientifically promoting the development of standards, and ensuring the high-quality completion of tasks. Since its establishment in 1974, the ISO/TC156 Technical Committee on Corrosion of Metals and Alloys has played an important role in standardization activities such as corrosion testing methods. Since assuming its secretariat work in 2008, China has actively promoted the development of international standardization in this field. It has led the release of 14 international standards in ISO/TC156 and has 12 ongoing research projects, achieving a leap from "following" to "running in parallel" or even "leading". The ISO 9225 international standard has a profound impact on research and practice in the field of metal and alloy corrosion. It provides a key basis for the accurate measurement of atmospheric corrosive environmental parameters, and plays a crucial role in ensuring the stability and reliability of metal materials in atmospheric environments, as well as promoting the sustainable development of related industries. The leading revision of ISO 9225 international standard fully reflects China's profound strength and important position in scientific research and standardization work in the field of metal and alloy corrosion. At the meeting, Dr. Xia Xiaojian, the project leader of ISO 9225, reported on the development of international standards. The attending experts discussed issues such as "obtaining raw data and accumulating data in the next step", "selecting data collection cycles", and "using linear fitting methods", and put forward opinions such as "optimizing sampling cycles based on different chloride ion deposition amounts". At the same time, the working group also confirmed the project's timeline. The Information Standards Institute will continue to assist in communication and collaboration among all parties, promote orderly progress of projects, further enhance China's international influence in this field, and promote the upgrading and development of related industries.
