Screening Solution for Chinese Herbal Formula Granules
Solution Introduction
The production of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) formula granules is based on the preparation requirements of traditional decoctions, with standardized process flows tailored to different formulas. The typical production steps include:
Raw material optimization → Processing → Extraction → Concentration → Drying → Fine powder screening → Granulation → Final granule screening → Packaging
Due to differences in powder size and granulation consistency during the process, issues such as material loss, labor waste, and quality complaints may arise—resulting in reduced profits and customer dissatisfaction. To address these challenges, we offer a one-stop screening solution designed for efficiency, precision, and compliance.
Recommended Equipment
Tumbler Screen
Screening Requirements
Purpose: Particle classification and impurity removal
Material: Full stainless steel (meets pharmaceutical-grade hygiene standards)
Mesh Size: 14–80 mesh
Capacity: 100 kg – 1 ton/hour
Screening Stages in TCM Granule Production
1. Raw Material Screening
To ensure the purity and consistency of herbal ingredients, coarse impurities are removed using a linear vibrating sieve.
Recommended Model: SZF-A Linear Vibrating Sieve
2. Fine Powder Screening (Pre-Granulation)
After drying, oversized agglomerates and added excipients are removed using 80 mesh sieving before granulation.
Recommended Models: S49-A Rotary Vibrating Screen, WSA Centrifugal Sifter
3. Post-Granulation Screening
After granulation, multi-layer sieving ensures uniform particle size:
Top Layer: 16 mesh to remove oversized granules
Middle Layer: 30–40 mesh for final product
Bottom Layer: Undersized powder for reprocessing
Recommended Equipment: Granule Pellet Sieve
Recovers usable material
Reduces repeat processing
Maintains product integrity
Specialized Granule Screening Design
The Granule Pellet Sieve features a unique three-layer structure with different slope angles:
Top Layer: Removes false agglomerates
Middle Layer: Gently conveys qualified granules without damage
Bottom Layer: Rapidly discharges fine powder for re-granulation
This design improves screening efficiency while protecting fragile granules from breakage. It also supports GMP compliance through easy disassembly, cleaning, and disinfection.
